While the word baroque has been known to mean bizzare and elaborately
ornamented, historians use the term to
identify an artistic style that may be characterized by saying the artist
fills a space with action and movement.
Influences on the baroque style of music include
the rise of the middle class who commissioned artistic works and the
church who used the more dramatic qualities of music to make worship more
appealing.
